The line in question involves the central section of the Naples - Bari line and strategically falls within the overall reorganisation of metro, regional and long-distance connections provided with the full upgrade.
The Apice - Hirpinia main line primarily runs in a tunnel (11.950 km) and on a viaduct (1.865 km) through the construction of a new section of double-track line of about 19 km, as well as a new stop called “Apice” and the new Hirpinia station. Two new traction substations were also built.
