Project description

The main changes to the infrastructure network around Vicenza involve:

  1. Quadrupling the track running alongside from the start of the work up until the entrance into Vicenza;
  2. The construction of a new stop on the line at Fiera called “Fermata Fiera“;
  3. The construction of working connections between the two lines near the entrance to the station which allow the potential routing over both lines if they need repairs and/or are out of service;
  4. Putting Vicenza Viale Roma station on the town master plan (PRG) with the construction of the 3 smaller basic stations described below:
    • Basic service station for the historical line formed of 5 tracks, including 2 plain tracks and 3 passing tracks;
    • Basic HS/HC service station for the historical line formed of 4 tracks, including 2 plain tracks;
    • Basic freight service station mainly for connections around Vicenza and for Trenitalia train maintenance depots (OGR) formed of 6 tracks with 1 through track.
  5. The organisation of the track switch branch on the Verona side;
  6. The partial organisation of the track switch branch on the Padua side;
  7. The construction of a new set of 4 tracks for holding stock, connected to the central service area for maintenance vehicles and rolling stock on the Schio line;
  8. The construction of a track for holding permanent way maintenance vehicles, with an annexed storage yard.
