The historical line between Bussoleno - Avigliana runs on a 3 kV D.C. and is electrified with a 610 mm² catenary system (adjustable wires and cables) on horizontal steel cantilevers and with a rail head height of 5.20 metres as well as a primary power supply circuit of 66kV alongside the odd-numbered track of the section in question. The project involves the decommissioning and demolition of the primary 66kV line in operation between the towns of Bussoleno and Collegno and the construction of the new overhead line between the portals outside Bussoleno and Avigliana stations with an equivalent section of 540 mm² adjustable messenger cable and the addition of a 230 mm² back-up feeder, required for the correct running of the line according to the expected operating traffic.
The decommissioning of the 66kV line will happen after the new Borgone and Avigliana traction substations go into service.
